Gerdesmeyer et al. studied use of extracorporeal shockwave therapy in soft-tissue pathologies, particularly chronic Achilles tendinopathy. In their study “Current Evidence of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy in Chronic Achilles Tendinopathy” they review number of studies on SWT treatment of Achilles tendinopathy. The paper summarizes both immediate and long-term results of the treatment. Geresmeyer et al. conclude that “recently published data have shown the high evidence of efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in chronic Achilles tendinopathy”.
